Honestly, I haven't even started wearing the shoes I bought back from my trip and I've bought three pairs of shoes since I've been back. In my defence (for once) my mother told me that I should get these. She's on a kula puri kick these days and I guess her obsession was infectious.

I've never seen pink kola puri's before. Trust Khaadi to come out with the cutest pair of kola puri's- ever! I've never paid much attention to Khaadi shoes before, and I wasn't particularly drawn in by their new display (out of habit) because all I really wanted was a new kurta. After going through the kurta rack a dozen times, and failing to find something that screamed "buy me" I gave up, and I headed to my second favourite section, the jewellery display. My mother was trying their kola puri's and I headed towards her. 

By the time I started trying on their shoes I had a vision of  me walking out with the gold kola puri's, not the pink ones. I was told that the gold ones (in the style that I wanted) have been sold out for weeks at every outlet (it just wasn't my day!). I loved how the pink ones looked on my feet, but to be honest I wasn't in love with them at first.

Now, they've grown on me and I have to admit they are soft and comfortable to walk in. I love their pinkness! The colour does make them more limiting though, because I can't wear them with everything.
These kola puri's are ideal for the hot Lahori weather. They look more chic and put together than your average flip flops. I'll be buying the gold ones when they're back in stock.

I've been wanting to invest in a good pair of khussa's for a while now. Maybe even months! I've been putting it off because just the thought of going to Liberty in this heat makes me shudder. A few days ago I finally decided to buy a pair of golden khusa's from Khusa Mahal ( In my head I don't know why Saleem Fabrics keeps popping up instead of Khusa Mahal).

Personally, I think Khussas look good with anything, but paired with a churidaar they personify laid back elegance. I chose simple golden ones because they'd go with everything. I've worn them a few times and it's safe to say I love them. Often, I find that one needs to wear them a few times before the leather starts feeling soft and comfortable. Surprisingly, these felt soft and comfortable the moment I slipped them on. 

Also, I love that these are a dull gold rather than a bright, in your face shiny gold. I can wear them casually, or on formal functions like a wedding (like I did two days in a row much to my mothers dismay. She wanted me to wear heels).

Outfit Of The Day: Cupids, Aroosa & I, Oh My!

My friend Aroosa and I went out for lunch today. Obviously we had to squeeze in time for a little window shopping and coffee as well. While we were at the mall we saw a Cadbury booth being set up for Valentines day.

There were more than a dozen balloons on the side and a few more cupids (they were still setting up the booth and weren't in their proper costumes yet). 

We had coffee at Gloria Jeans. I <3 Creme Brulee. 

I wore a shirt from Limelight and tights from Sarah's. My matching pumps are from New Look.

We had a lot of fun today getting all dressed up and hitting our favorite hangouts (CTC and Gloria Jeans) and few of our favorite shops. 

Pakistani Style: Outfit Of The Night (OOTN) Featuring Khaadi

Last night I went out for dinner with my family, and I thought I'd do a OOTN (outfit of the night) post. We went to Yum, which is a Chinese restaurant in Lahore. We had to wait half an hour for our table. By the time our food came I was starving. Even though I was really hungry, all I could think about was coke. I think I might have a problem, I am becoming a coke addict. Help!

I wore my new kurta (shirt) from Khaadi (surprise surprise). Khaadi has a couple of shirts in this style. I am so in love with this squarish design, which is similar to a kaftan. The fall is so different as well. The black tights are from Liberty. 

The earrings and the bag are both from Accessorize.

Face: I barely have any make-up on.

Pakistani Style: Ethnic/Desi Style Bangles From Milli

Along with being obsessed with make-up, I'm really in to jewellery as well. You can always see my standing googly eyed in front of the jewellery section at Accessorize. I usually tend to stick to my favourite places when it comes to shopping. I'm not a very adventurous shopper. However these bangles were a bargain I couldn't resist. 

I saw my friend wearing these a few days ago. When I asked her where she got them from I expected the answer to be either Funk Asia or Nishat. I was really surprised when she told me that she'd got them from Milli (it's a shoes and accessories store in Liberty) instead. 

Nishat and Funk Asia have ethnic/desi style bangles exactly like this, and they cost around RS1200. This on the other hand is a bargain at RS390. Milli makes bangles on order as well. You can tell them the colours and the material you want your bangles in. How cool is that?

Pakistani Style: Khaadi Kurta's= Love

Out of all the boutique's in Lahore Khaadi is my favourite! I'm pretty much obsessed with it. It was my birthday a week ago and I got two new Kurta's. Yay! One I purchased myself. 

(Post's like these might be helpful for those Pakistani's who live abroad and want to know what the latest fashion these days is.It could also be helpful for all those who live here and haven't been to Khaadi in a while.)

My friend Aroosa and I were supposed to be window shopping the day I bought this one. I went to try a couple of the kurta's just for the sake of it, and both of us fell in love with this one. Obviously both of us gave in to the temptation (ha!ha!That does not sound right :p). 

 I also got this for my best friend who lives in Dubai. I showed it to my aunt and the next day she got one for herself as well.

This pretty white and blue frock has really exaggerated dropped corners and pleats on the sleeve and above the chest. 

Even though it looks really simple, when paired with white tights or churidaar it looks so GOOD!

This is one my birthday presents. This is something I wouldn't have gotten for myself. That is why I'm so happy I got it as a present because I got to try something I wouldn't have picked out for myself and still love it. I pair it with black tights. It's really loose and has a hint of dropped corners. The sleeves can either be worn normally or buttoned up half way.

I got this as a birthday present as well. I wore it to a friends get together last weekend and it got so many compliments. This is probably my favourite out of the three. This one has a dropped corner thingy in the middle which has pretty thread work tracing all around it. 

I haven't been to Generation in ages. Their quality has deteriorated so much this year. I would love to know which of the two you prefer, Khaadi or Generation?

Is there anything in Khaadi that is on your wishlist. (I have one on mine)

Pakistani Style: Churidaar Tights From Sarahs

First it was churidar and now it's churidaar tights that are all the rage! What's the difference? These are pretty much like your average tights, with a desi touch. I bought mine a few days before Eid from Sarahs. The ones I bought are white because they'll go with everything. Sarahs had black, white and even had ones with funky prints and patterns on them. They had adorable black tights with white polka dots.

I love that the material of these churidaar tights isn't sheer. I've seen pictures where the flash or the lighting often makes the tights see through. I haven't had that problem with these tights. They're comfortable and hug all the right places. The tights have a stretchy elastic waist that doesn't bite in to my skin. The fitting is flawless. 

Personally, I think the churidar tights are better than the churidar itself because the fitting is better. Also the look is more sleek, polished and oh so chic. It's a very modern take on the traditional chuirdar. I love pairing mine with a long, flowy shirt/kurta. Another plus point is that they don't get wrinkly either. 

Sara's has three sizes to choose from, large, medium and small.

Directions: Sarah's is situated in the market across McDonalds Main Boulevard Gulberg. The market/plaza where Nike, Charles & Keith and Karma are also located.  Umm, more appropriate directions will be the shops adjacent to Home Economics!

Price:800 (which is a steal compared to the ones from Maria B. They're for 1500)

Pakistani Style: Fashion Forecast

While I was at Generation the other day, one of the workers kindly offered to give me a little heads-up on the fashion changes that are about to occur. Brace your selves, the shalwar is coming back in fashion! I don't even remember the last time I wore a shalwar? This season the shalwar is going to have a khula (loose) paincha. I actually like the khula paincha look. The Churidaars/thung pajama's are going to be even more trendy during fall/winter. I love the churidaar, it looks classic, elegant and ethnic. It's one of those key pieces that can be worn, whether its 'in' fashion or not.

I've been hearing about this since last December/January, and now I guess it's finally happening. It was bound to happen. *Sigh*, the shirts are getting shorter! They're still going to be below the knee, but definitely shorter than we've all been wearing them these last few years. Trousers/flappers are going out of style! My heart has broken about three times by now. Ha!ha! I LOVE trousers/flappers, I can't bear to say good bye to them yet! Can you?

Frocks are still 'in' and so are shirts with chotay (small) chaakh! (Thank God!!!)

Pakistani Style: Khaadi Obsessed

We've been doing a lot of celebrity styles and I thought we'd do a style post on Pakistani trends. I've been a little obsessed with Khaadi lately. I love their kurtas (shirts) because they look effortlessly stylish and you don't see every other person wearing them (like Generation). I buy kurtas that are a size bigger than my own because, I like to wear loose flowy clothes in the summer. You can pair Khaadi kurta shirts with white trousers or churidaara and you end up with a chic ensemble.
