Akon For Shahrukh Khan's Ra.One: 'Wanna Be My Chammak Chulo'

My cousin Nooria and I were Skyping today, and she sent a link to this song. Its an audieo track for Shahrukh Khan's upcoming movie Ra.One, sung by Akon. Its called 'Wanna be my chammak chulo' and it got leaked online recently. It's such a catchy song, and I just wanted to share it :).

What are your thoughts on it? Personally, I think Akon did a really good job singing in Hindi/Urdu. His accent is almost flawless.

Kareen Kapoor is going to do an item number on it. This could just be 'Munni Badnaam' of 2011.

The 'It' Nail Colour Of The Season

This is the colour that everyone has been trying to get their hands on. I've seen this nail colour mentioned in magazines and YouTube video's. It is the colour to have on your nails this season. For the past couple of seasons Chanel has been dominating the nail colour trend, Jade and Particuliere being 'it' colours of the last two seasons.

This time its the fresh and zesty 'Mimosa' yellow that all the beauty gurus are going gaga for. It retails for 25$ and can be bought here. For all those who can't splurge on this nail colour there are dupes that will work just as well. Here are a few options you can go for:

Video Tutorial: Lauren Conrad's Every Day Waves

Lauren Conrad

I'm always trying to in-cooperate Lauren Conrad's effortless chic style in to my own. In this video Lauren takes us step by step on how to get her every day wave.

To achieve Lauren's every day wave, follow these steps:
• Tools: protective serum or argon oil, 1″ barrel curling iron, light hold hairspray, comb.
• Work a small amount of protective serum through the ends of your hair.
• Using a 1″ barrell curling iron, curl sections of hair away from your face.
• (The section of your hair should be comparable to the size of the curling iron)
• Comb through curls to soften them up.
• To finish, spray hair with a light holding hairspray

Nail Polish Of The Day: Pop Rose 293 By Rimmel London

Pop Rose 293 Rimmel London

Pop Rose is one of my favourite colours for Summer. It's a gorgeous bright florescent pink which is ideal for both Spring and Summer. I had been on the look out for this colour for ages, and I was so excited when I finally got my hands on it.

I can not say enough good things about Rimmel nail polishes. They're long lasting and very very  easy to apply. The sticker on the cap says "mistake free application", and trust me it's not just a claim. Their new maxi brush is great for some one like me, who isnt' the best at applying nail polishes.

The Other Middleton Girl

Pippa Middleton has indeed stolen her sister's thunder, and has not only become a paparazzi magnet but also Britain's "it" girl.  She has been nick named "Perfect Pippa", hailed as the ultimate "English Rose" and has been dubbed the ideal role model for British girls. Yes, really!

The Pippa Middleton craze is only gaining momentum. Rumour has it that the writers of Glee could be planning a tribute to her now renowned derrière. There's also said to be a musical on the way about her life which will be called "Pip,Pip,Hooray".  If that's not enough, with all the media frenzy surrounding her there's a rumour of a TV appearance in the States, on Oprah's OWN network.

You've got to hand it to her,she has been handling her new found fame like a pro.

Are you a fan of Pippa Middleton?

Lauren Conrad Spring 2011 Collection

I've adored Lauren Conrad since The Hills. I was so excited when I heard she was going to do another reality show with MTV, and then really disappointed when her project got dropped.

Pictures of her latest Spring/Summer 2011 Kohl's have been released and I thought I'd share them.

You can check out her entire collection here. Is there anything in the collection that you love?

Review: Rimmel London 101 Pink Sugar Blush

Rimmel London 101 Pink Sugar

I had been on the look out for a powder blush that was economical and simply perfect for my skin tone, one that I could use daily without being conscious of whether it gave me a matte look or had a glittery tinge to it. I came across Rimmel London 101 Pink Sugar Blush that gave my skin a very natural flush the moment I applied it.

Even though I remember being confused about choosing another Rimmel blush shade like the Spring Flower and Santa Rose, but when my sister suggested that I go for Rimmel pink sugar, I did and am so glad about it! With just a mild shimmer, it gives my skin a very healthy glow and makes me look fresh even during the bluest days! Another reason I love it so much is because it stays longer and for someone like me who is out for more than 8 hours a day, this soft pink blush by Rimmel works perfectly!

Just to highlight some more benefits, it is very economical, only $5.99 (Rs.450). With a superb sheer finish and smudge resistance, I use it daily when I'm going to work or when I'm getting ready to go out. It is build-able and if you want to give your skin a natural flush, slide it once or twice on your cheeks while if you want to make it noticeable, glide it more with an extra amount of powder on the brush.

Even though it is compact and has a brush as well, I really didn't like the brush and the lid of the blush is a bit flimsy and gets loose after regular use. Nonetheless, I love my Rimmel 101 Pink Sugar blush which looks absolutely chic with a crown imprinted on the lid!!!

Which is your favourite??

Today I'm wearing Nail Paint By Barry M in 024. This pretty lilac shade is from one of their limited collections. I'm in love with it, its just perfect for summer! I've only applied one coat today but it still looks so pretty. The nail polish is quick drying and applies smoothly.

Review: Sephora Mineral Foundation

Sephora Mineral Foundation

Sephora Mineral Foundation in Clair Light 10

I am blessed with great skin, but last year I started experiencing break outs. For someone who has never really had a problem with her skin, I started freaking out. I had never used foundation before-ever but with no choice, I had to invest in one.

I wanted one that felt and looked natural. A close friend advised to try a mineral foundation, and I ended up buying the Sephora Mineral Foundation. Sephora claims that this foundation is a hydrating, 97-percent-mineral foundation, that creates a matte, flawless, natural-looking finish. It is formulated without parabens and synthetic fragrances. It is suitable for all skin types and has a variety of shades to choose from for all skin tones.

After trying it the first few times, I was really disappointed. Even though it gave my skin a natural looking finish, I was disappointed at the coverage it provided. It really didn't do much to cover up the pimples on my face. I used it with a Sephora Primer to achieve a better finish but still did not get the results I was looking for.

However, I did end up falling for it when my skin cleared up (and I was left with a pimple or two). My skin looked flawless and radiant in the pictures and there were no tell tale signs of pimples, acne scars or redness. The Mineral Foundation does have a hint of shimmer to it, which gives the skin a luminous glow. It goes on better without a primer (atleast in my case). It provides light to medium coverage-which if you try to build it up can get cakey. It can also be used as a concealer for problem areas with a concealer brush.

The Sephora Mineral Foundation retails for 18$, and for this price the amount of product is very little. The Mineral Foundation pot is just slightly bigger (0.11oz) than The Body Shop Lip balm pot. The packaging is strong and light, and can be carried in your bag for touch ups. The sifter from which the foundation comes out is ideal because the perfect amount pops out.

This foundation is on sale on the Sephora website. It now retails for 5$ (original price 18$). For 5$ this product is excellent.  The only downside to it that it doesn't provide buildable coverage, other than that I think Sephora did a pretty good job.

Oprah's Final Words: "Until We Meet Again"

After 25 successful years, Oprah ended her daily talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show last night. During her final show, Oprah addressed her final audience with the following:

"There are no words to match this moment. This show has been going on for 4561 days of my life".

Her last audience consisted of 300 people, including her best friends Gayle King and Maria Shriver. They all watched as the iconic talk show host gave her last words:

"Gratitude is the single greatest treasure I will take with me from this experience. I thank you for sharing this yellow brick road of blessings. I won't say goodbye -- I'll just say, 'Until we meet again."

Last night we watched The Oprah Farewell Spectacular (which were the last two episodes before the one aired last night). The Farewell Spectacular was a super star studded event, which was only a glimpse of how many lives Oprah has changed and touched. She has been an inspiration to millions, believing in the power of goodness, love, forgiveness, giving and most of believing in the power of you.

One of the highlights of the two day show was when the students of Morehouse gave a tribute to Oprah. It was a heart melting moment when 415 black young men came in holding candles as a thank you for providing them with a college education. We couldn't find a video, but you can check out the pictures here:

The oprah Farewell Spectacular was a star studded event which was hosted by Tom Hanks and Tom Cuise.

Pride Of The Nation

Lt. Syed Yaser Abbas Shaheed from Pakistan Navy sacrificed his life for our dear country. He led his team to fight against the attack on PNS Mehran. On one hand while he was on the phone with a family member, he went into the Mehran base as soon as he heard the gunshots without a moment’s glitch. As he lead the entire squad with other Navy force militants, he bravely took bullets in chest and was martyred.
The entire nation is indebted to this brave man who gave his life at the age of 24 to serve and protect his Country. Pakistan is considered a terrorist Country, but its people like him who risk their lives proving that terrorism is something we're fighting against. We are truly proud of people like Lt. Yaser to whom we salute today!
May he rest in peace and may God embrace his family with patience. Ameen
Lets all raise our hands in prayer for all shuhada of PNS Mehran. May Allah give them eternal peace. Ameen.

The Battle of the Brands

L'oreal White Perfect Rosy Whitening SPF 50ml:

When I first caught eye of L'oreal White Perfect Rosy Whitening SPF 15 50ml, I fell for it that very instant! I spared no moment in buying it to have an even skin tone through the melting summer heat but the magic of its 'transparent rosy whitening' did not work for me at all! In fact, I noticed that my skin looked oilier and way too untidy!

This was sooo not expected from L'oreal at least because my prime concern of buying it was to have a smooth, even skin while the sun is at its peak during the summers. With my oily skin, L'oreal White Perfect didn't do any wonders and did not come any where near my expectations!

Ponds White Beauty:

So now I give my vote to Ponds White Beauty that gave my skin such a flawless touch and I even had that transparent glow to my skin! A plus point was that L'oreal White Perfect Rosy Whitening cost me Rs.1025 ($25) while Ponds White Beauty  with better results cost me Rs. 825 ($14.95). It gave me a perfect matte look that I wanted and one of the best thing that I found was the sheer coverage - covering the redness. Ponds White Beauty truly has those detoxifying vitamins that cleanse your skin to the deepest pores, making you look fresh and younger than ever before!

If you want a discount, visit Jalal Sons where you will find it at a discount of Rs.100/- less than the original price.

Ponds White Beauty is what I prefer for a flawless skin and matte look!! What about you???

Review: Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara

I was in need of a new mascara when my Sephora one dried out and I couldn't decide which one to try next. All the YouTube Beauty Guru's rave about the L'oreal Telescopic Mascara, so I decided to give it a shot.

I was disappointed to find out that two of my go-to stores were out of L'oreal Telescopic. To me that just proved how good it must be, and now I really wanted it. Luckily for me, the lady at the Maybelline counter got hold of me and persuaded me to try their Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara the dupe they had for L'oreal Telescopic.

This mascara defines lashes while adding volume at the same time. The best thing about it is that it doesn't clump at all. The wand is big and is a bit curved towards the edge (very similar to L'oreal Telescopic). It gives the perfect definition to the lashes, adding multiple coats can make the lashes look really dramatic.

There's a Rs1000 difference between the Telescopic and Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara. The Telescopic retails for Rs1800 and the Maybelline for Rs800 (I'm sure in other Countries there's not a big difference in the price). The packaging for the Maybelline is such a pretty bright pink, which I love.

A few days after I bought it, I went shopping with my friend Sara. She wouldn't stop complimenting me on how amazing my lashes looked. She didn't say it just once, she kept saying it over and over again. I, of course loved hearing it, so I kept batting my eye lashes at her just so I could get a few more compliments out of her. Ha!Ha!

Trend: Orange Lips

One of the easiest ways to make a statement is with bold lips and that's what Summer 2011 is all about. Bright orange lips are really big this season. I know, most people would normally stay away from orange lips. One of the easiest ways to try this look without going out of your comfort zone is with Revlon Colour Burst in the shade Coral Reef. It is a soft orange shade and its the perfect way to stay on trend without having a splash of really bold orange on your lips. It's not something I would normally go for, but my cousin Nooria sent it to me and I just fell in love with it.

The lip gloss goes on very smoothly and it is not sticky. The colour pay off is excellent. You can keep it light and simple or build it up for a bolder look. Revlon Colour Burst in Coral Reef is the perfect way to try out this trend, because its not very pricey and its not super orange either. Also you can buy a few more shades in this line as well, I know I would. (Revlon also has a bright orange in its Colour Burst line as well).

Are you a fan of the orange lip trend?

No Chance To Shine With The Perfect Face Powder

With every sun rise, the hot weather keeps rising in Lahore, and one of the biggest problems that we all face (apart from loadshedding) is an oily face which can be quite irritable when going out. An oily face is one of the things that we dread the most about summers. We had been on the lookout for the perfect face powder for a year or two and yes, Aroosa and I thought we’d found it when we got our hands on the ‘Luscious’ face powder. Both of us have really oily skin and for us this face powder was heaven sent.

It has excellent staying power. It keeps the face neat and matte for hours. We’d get compliments for looking "fresh" even during the hottest days when everyone else's face used to be shiny.

However, there came a sudden change with Rimmel Stay Matte Face Powder which we have now fallen in love with. It glides on smoothly and evens out the skin tone and doesn't look cakey at all. This face powder won us over after Sana started appllying it over sun block and moisturizer, the result was flawless light coverage and matte skin. She had it on for hours and there were no tell tale signs of shine despite the sun block and moisturiser underneath. Comparatively, Luscious face powder does not do so well covering the shine when there’s sun block or a moisturiser underneath.

Even though we love the Lusicous face powder which has three colors to choose from for different skin tones which sure is a good variety for us Asians. Our new favourite is Rimmel Stay Matte which is truly perfect for people with really oily skin. The only downside to the Rimmel Stay Matte is that it doesn't come up with a mirror, which the Luscious one does. There is only slight difference between their prices, Luscious Face Powder being slightly cheaper. The packaging of both the face powders is light and secure enough to pop in your bag.

Which is your favourite face powder?
